Torrin made his public debut in 2018 appearing as a String Category Finalist on BBC Young Musician of the Year, a performance broadcast live on BBC 4 and BBC Radio 3. In the same year, he gave his debut solo recital at London’s prestigious Wigmore Hall.
As an active soloist, Torrin has performed at festivals and venues across Europe, including: Great Britain (Menuhin Hall, St John the Evangelist Church Oxford); The Netherlands (The Peace Palace, Muziekzomer Gelderland); Germany; Switzerland (Don Bosco Basel); Austria (Minoritensaal Graz); Italy (Segovia Guitar Week, Polinote Music Festival); Slovenia (Festival Kitarika); Kosovo (Kino Lumbardhi) and Portugal (Palácio de Fronteira).
Torrin’s most recent solo awards include: 1st Prize at the International Guitar Competition Nürtingen 2025; 2nd Prize at the International Guitar Competition Maurizio Biasini (cciMB) 2024; 2nd Prize at the 10th International Competition for Young Guitarists Andrés Segovia 2018; Special Prize at the Anna Amalia Guitar Competition 2021. Recent chamber music awards, with the Carreiro-Williams Duo, include: 1st Prize at the Concurso Internacional de Guitarra Cidade de Lagoa – Zé Gregório 2025; 1st Prize at the Internationle Franz Cibulka Musikwettbewerb 2024.
In 2025, Torrin received his Master of Music degree with distinction from the Kunstuniversität Graz, as a student of Paolo Pegoraro, Łukasz Kuropaczewski and Petrit Çeku. In 2022, Torrin received his Bachelor of Music degree with distinction from the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague, as a student of Zoran Dukić.
Torrin chose the classical guitar at the age of seven. Supported by the UK Government’s Music and Dance Scheme, he attended the Guildhall School of Music Junior Department, where he studied with Mark Eden, Mark Ashford and Amanda Cook. Alongside his guitar studies, he gained his Piano Professional Diploma (Performance) and studied jazz piano, performing at venues around London, including: Steinway Hall, Milton Court, Ronnie Scotts and the Vortex Jazz Club.
Torrin completed Advanced Level studies at the Purcell School for Young Musicians while studying classical guitar with Graham Devine. During this time, Torrin was leader of the National Youth Guitar Ensemble in the UK from 2014 to 2018. He participated in numerous masterclasses under the guidance of such outstanding musicians as David Russell, Aniello Desiderio, Pavel Steidl, René Izquierdo, Johannes Möller, Gabriel Bianco, Andrea de Vitis and Xu Bao.
Torrin is also a composer, arranger and ensemble performer. Since 2019, Torrin has been performing as a part of the Carreiro-Williams Guitar Duo, alongside fellow classical guitarist Jose Carreiro. Having benefitted from studying with Petrit Ceku and Duo Melis, this partnership has given Torrin the opportunity to make many exciting, new arrangements for guitar duo. For his Master’s thesis, Torrin focused his analysis on the Six Preludes for Guitar written by his grandfather Patric Standford, bringing a new work for the guitar repertoire to greater prominence.
